The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP)

  • A quarterly distribution program that is income-based (200% of federal poverty guideline), and funded by the Department of Education and United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

  • The food in this program is designed to supplement normal groceries, not as a substitution of grocery shopping altogether.

  • Food is picked up at 2824 Perkins Street, Saginaw, MI 48601.

Eligibility criteria are:

Urban Gardening Program

This program provides residents the opportunity to grow nutritious food gardens. Saginaw CAC will till garden area and provide seeds for up to 55 gardens in the community. Garden preparation starts late Spring, depending on weather.

Eligibility criteria are:
  • Income at, or below, guideline. CLICK HERE to see guidelines for this program.

  • Resident of Saginaw County

To apply for service, bring:
  • Proof of residency (State issued I.D.) for all adults residing in household
  • Social Security cards for all household members
  • Proof of income for most recent 3 months
      • Employment check paystubs
      • Child support
      • Unemployment statement
      • Social Security statement
      • Bank Statements ARE NOT accepted
    • If you, or anyone in your household, receives food stamps (FAP) benefit, documentation MUST BE provided
